Dr. Koher was in the first class certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons and has been certified longer than any other surgeon in the Carolinas. In addition, he is one of the most active members of the worldwide International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS).
He has been an invited faculty member for the past five years at the Live Surgery Workshops that are sponsored by the ISHRS. Live Surgery Workshops are intense, three-day sessions, where multiple surgeries on performed on patients of varying ages, males and females, different ethnic groups, patterns and causes of hair loss. Because of his experience, knowledge of all aspects of hair restoration surgery including the most current techniques, and ability to transfer this knowledge to other physicians, Dr. Koher has also been invited to Italy and China to teach other physicians. For his patients, all of these traits mean that his discussions during a consultation are always factual, thorough, and easy to understand. Although some physicians have good surgical skills, it is his combination of surgical skills, artistic skills, and communication skills that move the surgical experience from the expected, to much more than expected! Dr. Koher has attended over 80% of all of the activities sponsored by ISHRS.
Dr. Koher has attended over 80% of all of the activities sponsored by ISHRS. The meetings and activities are held worldwide. He is currently on the Website Committee of ISHRS. In this capacity, he helps decide what information goes onto the ISHRS website and also reviews member’s profiles on the site for accuracy. Upon accepting the nomination for this Committee, he said “There is a lot of misinformation about hair loss and hair restoration on the internet. I want to be certain that there is a website where I can refer prospective patients so they can get clear, concise, current and accurate information.”
